Skate Gr8 is a family owned business by a mother and 2 daughters that have a total combined 60 years of experience in the hockey and figure skating worlds. With each of their backgrounds what better combination could you ask for to offer the community and share their knowledge and expertise. This venture was in the planning stages for many years until the appropriate time came to put their plan into action.
We believe that amateur sports is a family commitment, not just that of the athlete, so we wanted to provide a comfortable atmosphere where families could do one stop shopping for both their hockey players and figure skaters. We know all too well that time is limited and the less time shopping the more time available for family activities. When we discovered that our property was coming available, we instantly signed a lease and began the long process of renovating a 144 year old heritage home. What a perfect location for the atmosphere we wanted to create. We had no idea it would take as long as it did but we think you will be impressed with results.
We are more than aware of the difficult learning process that begins when a child starts either of these sports. That is why we are here. We aim to relieve some of the stresses of not being familiar with the needs these activities demand.
The one thing that we learned very quickly was the importance of properly fitted skates and matching the skate to the level of ability. This is not just to enhance performance but to promote safety to avoid injury.
With all these features combined, our goal of providing quality products and quality service developed.
